Years ago, Neatomajick Productions was just a name I wrote on tapes that I made for my friends. Whether it was a mixed tape or a copy of something I'd written and performed myself, somewhere on the cover it read, "This is a Neatomajick Production!"
People often ask me about the word Neatomajick, like where it came from and what it means. And as much as I'd like to give the whole story online here, I might incriminate myself in ways I'd rather not. Let's just say that there were times when I used the word to describe a particular euphoric sensation I'd experience listening to or playing music.
From that term, a nickname came about. I told people my name was Neatomajick Janie. Some people thought I was off my rocker (which may have been the case), and others fell in love. Either way, the description was certainly fitting.
I used that moniker for a few years, until I hit a few rocks in my life. (I should've held to that name more than anything at that point, but whatever.) I put it in the closet and tried to have a "grown-up" life. The one that your parents tell you that you need to pursue. In all my time and trouble working towards a "normal" life, I finally accepted that it wasn't going to happen. A normal life was not in the cards. In 2005, I found myself re-aquainted with this former identity. Once again, I began to write Neatomajick on everything.
Here we are now: 2009. Neatomajick Productions has become something I never expected nor really imagined. Not bound by any particular music genre or style, it is everything. It is my record label. It is a booking agency. It is a promotion company. It is a music school. It is a way of thinking. It is my life.
I'm glad you stopped by. If you like any of the bands you see on here, send me a message. We'll get them to play your club, party, festival, or whatever else you might want a band for!
xo,
Neatomajick Janie
